Hi everyone.
I am planning a Monterey stay on our way down to Los Angles on 11/22.
Things are already booking up and still want to show kids the aquarium which they enjoy a lot.
What hotel is a good family stay?
Anyone willing to allow me to use the aquarium pass on that day?
I appreciate your recommendation.
Michael

I would recommend finding a place on here...

https://www.airbnb.com

It can save you an arm and leg. Especially if you find a place with a kitchen.

Our family uses this instead of using a hotel on all our travels.
Common sense is not common.

Asilomar is big, historic, and fairly inexpensive. Check-it-out

We like to stay at Hyatt Monterrey.  We get the breakfast inclusive deal because they have a serve great breakfast meals that fills you up till lunch.

The pool is also great, I can't get my daughter to leave.   Not the cheapest place but we are very comfortable.

Down near the Aquarium, if you're looking for an economical option, I'd suggest The Otter Inn or Best Western Victoria or Cannery Row Inn. If you want somewhere nice, I'd checkout the Monterey Plaza Hotel or The Clement. Somewhere in the middle is the Portola Hotel, which is closer to the wharf than Cannery Row but pretty nice for around 150/night.

Just booked Hilton garden for two nights. If the weather is good will try to rent kayaks to fish.

Hotels within walking distance of the aquarium go for double what places charge that are further away. Good deals in Monterey at the motels along Munras Avenue. The cheapest are the ones in Marina and there are two that are right at the freeway off ramp and only 10 minutes from Monterey.

The ones in Marina are at Hwy 1 and Reservation Road - Quality Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Old Marina Inn, Motel 6, Howard Johnson.

I use hotels.com and other services to find locations and then call the hotel directly to see if they have a lower rate or specials - sometimes places will do 2 nights and the 3rd night is free or half price or will wave the per person charge with the room rate.

Yes that's the one, Julia Morgan was the architect. Arts& Crafts style lodge, humble little pool, most rooms are 1970's modern  :smt044  I don't think you can get a better location for the money. Adjacent to the State Park.
www.visitasilomar.com Very different than downtown Monterey where I had my high school prom  :smt005. Maybe next time?  :smt001

I just stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn on Aug 10!  newly renovated.  nothing on the adjacent street if you get munchies, you going for a hike or driving.  Still, its only 2.4 mile (~19 mins) slow jog to the MBay Aq.  here's the 10K route i ran from the Inn for kicks.

our 2 queen bed room was small but pretty tidy.  mini pool, but deck and hot tub clean, with nifty cabanas and fire pits.  I think they do a euro-style happy hour on deck, but it looked kinda wack so I passed.  Awesome gym/weight room, top five I've ever used, compares favorably even to, say, Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel (not for the view, but just the equipment).  So if youre a two-pump chump like me and need to throw some iron before gorging on turkey, your covered.

hotel mini fridge won't have enough room for a big WSB tho, but i'm sure you can work around that problem lol

I want to stay as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center.
