I am going to be re-mounting some things on my deck and was wandering what would be the cleanest way to fill in a couple of small holes on my deck.  Goop the hole and put a screw in it?

I experimented with plastic repair this weekend.   I used a mini torch to melt similar plastic into the holes and then used a blade to flatten or trim off excess.  The repair looks so much better than using Goop which can peel away.

Do you have to buy this stuff from the kayak manufacturer to get matching color?

When you drill holes in the 'yak, save the scraps. Especially if you've used a hole saw, as in that case you've got nice big chunks that can be used for repairs. Otherwise, see if you can get some bits and pieces from a local yak dealer that does outfitting. And it's not like you really need to color match, when it all comes down to it...

What also works great for filling holes is hot glue.  My $5.00 hot glue gun has been filling holes in my boats for years.  Art supply stores have colored glue sticks.  Sometimes you can find ones that kind of match your color.  It's really quick and easy. Just remember to take the hot tip of the gun and run it around the surface of the hole to get it slightly melted, then give it a small shot of glue.  Trim off the excess with a razor blade.

The kayak manufacturers should sell welding sticks that fit in hot glue guns for repair.
