Hey guys,
You have all received your arms by not and I wanted to check in and see if anyone had feedback about the units. I am working on an installation sheet and will post it soon. I want to get the arms out as quick as possible.
So far I have heard back from some of the NWKA guys about the bungee retention system. The plastic piece is designed to hold the knot of the bungee and fit flush in the top of the arm.

Any feedback you guys might have would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you all. This has been a fun and I learned a lot in the process. Hope you all enjoy the product.

Hi

I broke an arm of my mirage drive at the hole for the adjustment pin.  How did you guys solve this?  What is your upgrade?  Maybe I am not too late?

These arms were designed to specifically address that problem. I had these made from solid high strength aluminum. Instead of the pedal shafts being press fit into the arm each arm is tapped for a standard 9/16" bicycle pedal. If you want to use the stock hobie pedals there is an included billet stainless shaft the threads into each arm and accepts the stock pedals.
I had a pre buy that is over and done with but I have some sets finished and ready to ship if you are interested. $100 each plus $5 for shipping for NCKA members. PM me if you are interested.

Just curious as to which type of bike pedal would be best to use, sealed bearing, unsealed, no bearings, plastic, magnesium?  What say you all.  I am going to use the Hobie pedals on one set, and try bike pedals on the other drive.

I have been using a cheap set of plastic pedals for the last year and have been happy with them. They give me better grip than the hobie smooth pedals. I really like the idea of trying clip less pedals too.

I've been using clip in mtb pedals for a couple years and with a fresh water rinse and a spray of WD40 they've been free of salt water corrosion. Any decent platform pedal will give better foot support and grip than stock Hobie's.

After using regular mtb shoes I now use mountain biking sandals. They are designed for the cleat that clips into the pedal. With sandals you have more room for a neoprene socks. Plus, they dry faster than shoes. Check around the internet for sale specials, I paid 40 bucks for a great pair.

Got both of my sets today.  They look great.  One thing though, I had a helluva time threading on pedals until I realized it was a reverse thread on one pair of arms.  Was blaming the threads at first and was almost ready to re - tap on my own.  Other pair were normal clockwise tightening threads.

Yeah, I guessed it was something like that.  Anyway they should do the trick, thanks for the early buy price.

Used them today, bike pedals are great.  They don't hold all this Delta mud on them, big improvement.  Got some skeletal aluminum pedals with sealed bearings, blue anodizing matches my Adventure!
