Ok, a little flavor of what we do here after summer says bye bye...

Guys are still catching halibut but there is a powerboat derby Oct 4&5 I wanted to scout around for.

These are feeder kings.  A lot of them hatchery release from Southeast Alaska, BC, and even further south.  None from Southcentral Alaska.  They hang out here to feed.  A lot like the blackmouth fishery in Puget Sound.

A ton of one ocean fish in the 16" range.  I hope it portends good fishing for all the folks down south in a few years.  Stopped counting at about a dozen.  Kept a bleeder one ocean fish.  Managed three solid takedowns on real fish in four hours.  Hooked two.  Landed one.  Not huge, maybe 10 to 12 lbs but should be a great eater and definitely something to do here in Alaska during the "off season" as this fishery will go great until December and though it will slow down, is available all winter through spring.

So a quick video.  Hard to believe no other souls around me...

Thx.

Ice fish? You bet.  Nothing like watching big fish smash your gear just a few feet away from your face.  A great way to learn fish behavior.

Here are a few videos..I have a bunch more but the fish tend to be smaller.

Underwater footage of char. In the first video, you can see the pole I stuck the go pro on to the right once it shows the above water shot.

Above water footage of burbot and rainbows.

Thx all. It's fun to look back. Of course I am envious of the array of species you all fish in warmer weather. But yah, hard to beat AK for fishing.

Ok. One more. Not huge fish. More like 12" but a fun way to get the kids involved. Using the vexilar wireless camera.
