Want to add a front hitch Thule goal post to my truck but could not find info on if a Hullavator or similar device would attach to it so I could easily load the kayak when I am taking my fifth wheel out.  It would be helpful if I was only taking one kayak.  If I was taking two I would have someone to help and not be an issue to my shoulder.  Usually the Hullavator is used on roof and you can reach both handles at the same time.  Not sure if they lock or could I grab center of kayak and push it without touching the handles.

Duane, the Hullavator will work with both Thule and Yakima racks. Should be no problem with the Thule goal posts. Only limiting factor is how wide the goalpost cross bars are. The Hullavator connection bolts are not very long.

The craclles do lock in the lowered position. You have to squeeze the handles to release them for lifting.

Good news if they fit.  So far this is the best option I can come up with.

I was afraid they may lock out when extended. Is it possible to unlock each one separately and move whole kayak up at once or will one lock out as I walk over to unlock the other?

Am I reading right? Are you loading from the side of the truck or the front?. Hullavator is set up to lift from the side...both handles need to be squeezed to lif the kayak up and over. If you're connecting the rack to the goalpost, your kayak will obviously load perpendicular to the truck.

The spacing of the cross bars needs to be such that you can reach both Hullavator releases at the same time with one hand on each. The cross bar needs to extend past the side of the car as far as you want the Hullavator to sit beside the car when in the down position. Alternative is to use two people with one on each Hullavator arm.

If the cross bar extends 8 inches past the side of the car you will have about a 6 inch gab between the arm and the side of the vehicle.

It will work but might be a pain. If the yak was loaded you need to pull each handle. You can do one at a time then scoot it over a bit so it doesn't lock when you go to the other handle. Repeat then lower the boat from the middle. Maybe even a Velcro strap to keep one disengaged while yo hold the other and lower the boat. Up is the easy part, unlatch one handle and hold the boat till you unlock the other side and lift.
If the boat is long enough one of the strong arm loaders would be another option. Thule just released an new one that slides inside the bar. You have to lift each side of the boat thoe.

Looks like there might be a way.  Thanks for the replies.  I may just attach to roof like designed and then just slide kayak to goal post bar. I need to go take a look at some installed to better understand the locking mechanism.
