Luis,
We are not sponsored as I said before. We are all promotional staff and get compensated when we do our job. Jus like you get paid to sell a house. Can you ask you boss if we can have a house to raffle off? If not, can we at least get some appliances or other housewares. Same thing you asked of us.

I said this to educate all and have a little fun with you. ;-)

Pro Staff doesn't get paid anything unless you work maybe like the ISE show. Where Im there for up to 9 hours for way less than I make at my day job. We also have to pay for our kayaks. Around wholesale. So it aint a gimme that's for sure. Im all for just eliminating the kayak now. Just plaques.

I'm not an employee of Lowrance/Simrad/B&G or Motorguide.  I get the pleasure to having some wonderful times helping them out on a rather exclusive level AND still work my regular job.  This has brought me to the dinner table with great people from all around the world that I would have never had the pleasure of meeting otherwise.  Pro-Staff people do this because they have a VERY SPECIAL passion for their sport.  This is the ONLY reason I align myself with the companies I do.  I do it because I wholeheartedly LOVE it!

Ok let's forget my comment about Sponsored kayakers. We're getting off topic. Even though I do appreciate the info--thank you. Sorry if it was poorly written/worded. I was just trying to motivate people to help out & make this a community effort...because in the end, everybody would benefit from it (having 3 yaks for 2015 AOTY/DOTY). So I think that's what we should aim for.

I can try to help with a Johnson brand kayak. Typically kayak manufacturers Like to be the solo brand at an event. Whoever is running the show give me a shout. Johnson has been pretty wonderful the last couple of years with all wee do. They have given more boats to NCKA  tournaments than anyone.

I'm already working on it Pat. Know more soon.

Craig,
I get paid more at ISE than my day job because I don't work too much. I hope you did not think I meant Pro Staff was a job. I know better. I just meant we get a few benefits for promoting. Discounted deals on boats etc.

Bill,
All my rentals have been basically free houses. So little out of pocket it isn't funny. Tenants pay the bills, not me. Doing complete rehabs on 4 units and have not spent a dime out of pocket. One unit at a time and the others pay for it. Multi unit props are where it is at.  Been  living off the profits.

Sorry for the thread jack, just bored.

Anyway, three kayaks or no kayaks is my proposal too. How many of you would sign up with no prize what so ever? Be honest with yourself and us. My guess is most of the guys with few or  no entries would drop next year. I agree there needs to be something to get people to sign up and support PIF other than the warm fuzzy feeling. And some bonus to the winner.

Yes they do like to be solo.  Not much into cross promoting. That is why 3 will be hard. Yes, Johnson and MM have stepped up big the last couple years.

This has been a very interesting thread to read.

Raffles are way more bang for the buck when it comes to fundraising, raffle 100 tickets at $25 each = $2500 straight to PIF, no expense, no cost except for roll of tickets, possibly give discount to those who sign up for AOTY, remaining tickets sold first come, first serve. (Even if you pay part or all of wholesale cost profit is good. Can split wholesale cost between, manufacture, local shop and organization which a lot of tournaments do).

AOTY - kayak prize 10 more sign up possibly at $40 = $400 - expenses $100 = $300

Here is my experience, www.chesapeakebaykayakanglers.com original founder, still director, headed back east tomorrow for tournament, almost 60 sponsors.  We have five directors, listen to everyone but majority vote of directors is final decision and on tournament day, the tournament director has final vote for last minute issues.

It is a year long effort, the friendship, good times and fundraising take back seat to the competition only way to make it enjoyable for the many, many hours that the volunteers put in.

BigJim thanks for your dedication to PIF. I will make the $40 donation to PIF based on your hard work and effort.

Oh...I though that they paid for your bait too, I was waiting for the day that you arrive to Albion with a kayak on top of a limo...maybe sponsor is not the correct description, I should have said, the people that have close relationships with the kayak companies.

just messing with you, you know what I mean.

I am glad I am not part of the committee, too many issues to try to keep everyone happy.
