Sorry guys, I've been on him to get me my diamond jigs for the tourney. It's kind of a big order maybe he just got behind. Don't really want to get in the middle but he's always been good to me, never missed a shipment. Always quality gear at a great price.

Get my jigheads from htlure on ebay, I glue on eyes and give them a quick coat of red fingernail polish.

As for the swimbaits I too have to order from 3 or 4 different sites to get the size and color I want, even with that 1/2 my order is on backorder. I don't know what Big Hammers deal is and why they cannot keep product in stock but I have begun trying other stuff because of this. Would love to find the size and color I want in a plastic as tough as the Robo swimbaits. Next Im trying Fox. Then after reading this thread I may try the 831.

Got my big hammers at
Charkbait
Melton Tackle
Tackle Wharhouse

Yeah, I ordered about 70 bucks worth of Big Hammers from Charkbait and it took them over 3 months to fill the order. It wasn't their fault really; they had to wait for Big Hammer to make em--although my slight complaint is they should not have them listed on their website list if they don't have them in stock.  They did notify me after I ordered that the stuff was back ordered, but I had no idea it would take 4 months to fill the order.  On the other hand, I don't think I could have done much better ordering anywhere else.

So really........I'm just a whiner.  :smt044

I did a group order knowing that it would be have filled and half wait to send..from tackle warehouse...they were at my house right away and the 2nd half was there in a few days...no shipping over 50 bucks.....tackle warehouse is the fastest and free shipping...fast....but yeah the colors i wanted calico hunter, pearl in 9" were backed up

but all in all tackle warehouse gets an A+ on price comparison and fast fast free shipping...

Havent tested them yet but I got a variety of swim baits and jig heads from 831 Tackle. I had them in two days after ordering and they look good to me. They even took the time to give a salt water noob like me some basic info on technique and rigging them. Good guys if ya ask me!

The two local shops don't sell Hammer which is what I use and I go to three different places online to get the colors and sizes I want to have. Same applies to jig heads where I have not found a single source that has all the weights and types I want to use. The killer is the cost for the shipping on small orders. I try to offset the shipping costs as much as possible by ordering from out of state sources and avoiding CA state sales tax. I also try to buy a 2-year supply as it is both expensive for the shipping and time consuming with having to go to five or six different sources.

Anglers Choice on 41st Ave in S.C. has a good selection of colors & sizes.  They have also mentioned that they would look at stocking other colors/sizes per request.  They also have a good selection of lead heads in colors & sizes.  Again, if there is something we like, they can look at stocking or special ordering as needed.

I love supporting local businesses when I can but I need a better deal. I'm paying $2+ for each 6.5" Big Hammer swim bait and between $1.50-$2.50 (depending on size) for a jig head. One lingcod can destroy a swim bait no problem and snags are a common occurrence fishing reefs so it can get expensive quick. Does anyone have a tried and true website to get quality swim baits and jig heads at a good price? Do I have to buy in bulk or can I keep it small? Or is the price difference negligible and I should keep buying my tackle in town?

Thank you!

EBAY! Go on Ebay and type key words (swim bait, soft bait, ling cod, rock cod, etc.) with the word "lot" after it. I have gotten some insanely good deals on ebay doing that. I spent $10 recently and got an entire box of plastics for rock cod and ling cod.

2 oz with as long of a hook as I can get and I ad an ounce heavier on the heads for every 50-70 feet deeper I go...is one way to do it...but I can fish a 2 oz in 180 f.o.w if the day is glassy...I want to be able to feel where the jig is down there, and to be able to stay "on top of it"...the more line goes out an angle and the less I am  sure of the jigs location(unless I'm trolling -where I may have 150-300 feet out)...the less I am feeling that jig because of drift or swells or too light of a jig-deeper water grabbing the line more and jig feel lost...the  more jigs and swimbaits I lose...If I really focus and dont screw around with my gear or phone ...I can fish a jig all day...if it is really a strong drift...I can loose a lot of $$$$$

1 1/2 oz 0-80'
2oz 0-180'
3-4oz  wind drift 70-200 '

4-6 oz trolling with strong currents or deeper than 170' and  strong drift

I bought my own powder coat -glowing -jig paint--plumbers torch heats the jig --then dip it in the powder and hang to cool
and a few sheets of glue stick reflector eyes for after the paint sets up---or while still soft apply eyes to jig heads

and found this seller on ebay that has the size 8 longer hooks in his jigs...

in the end I am able to make a dozen long hooked swimbait jig heads in green, and white, super gloss glow for way cheaper than @ stores and also can now buy and paint  my own 3,4,6 oz heads...in bulk
