Got my personal best lingcod yesterday. 27 pounds 40 inches caught right off the point.

Got three other lings but they we're all in the 23-24 inch range. All the lings spit out little red squid. And we saw a few dead larger squid floating in the harbor so I'm assuming there is a bunch around.

Water was flat but the wind was blowing pretty good. The worst part were the flies, I passed a guy heading in when I was heading out who said he quit for the day because of the flies. Had at least 100 on my boat at any given time.

Besides the flies and the wind I had a great time and met some new kayak anglers who all had fish on board. Can't wait to get out there again!

Beast of a ling!  Congrats.  Sounds like long sleeves and scarves will be in order for this year's Rockfish Wars.  And maybe a fly swatter.  Kelp Fly Combat style!

Haha I missed a couple bites because I was trying to exterminate the flies. Doh!

Haha, I've done the same thing!  A few years ago they were so bad they forced me to head back to the beach.  I found that covering as much bare skin with clothing as possible makes them bearable.  They'll still crawl all over you, but at least you won't feel them.  I'm thinking a baklava might be extremely useful for this as well...along with sunglasses to keep the buggers out of your eyeballs.

What a beast, congrats man!  Any trouble with the jellies?  I heard they've been super thick the past couple of weeks.
