Good evening all-
I have a Tarpon 140, and am looking for add a fish finder w/gps. I'm curious about what is the highest recommended set up for my boat. Also, anyone with a tarpon that uses a fish finder, do you use a deployment ar or through hull for your transducer? I have been reading reviews everywhere, but would like to get some from people that actually use them ,and not just write reviews for a fee. Thanks in advance for all the help!!! OK, let the fun begin....lowrance vs hummingbird vs garmin.....

I have mine mounted on the slide trax of my Tarpon 120 with the deployment arm. It has pluses and minuses. I can remove the whole setup if I want. I didn't have to drill any holes which is nice if you're not completely sure what kind of setup you want.  The deployment arm is a bit of a pain. It make noise as I paddle, it catches crap if there is anything floating in the water. Now and again I forget to pull it up before I enter shallow water. Lately I have had to retighten the screws that keep it in position. They seem to get loose from raising and lowering the arm. I worry about having the FF up on the trax if I were to eat it on a surf landing.

All in all I haven't seen a good enough reason to change the setup. It seems as though it is within easier reach than it would be otherwise.

I've used HB for 6 yrs on my Tarpons and they work great. But, all the FF's out there will work fine on it. I do not like the deployment arm for the reasons TrailDad said. I have mine shoot thru hull in a water bath and can see a 1/16 oz weight at 60'. I don't write reviews for electronics so no bias here.

there are pros and cons to deployment arms but there are to any kind of system you decide to go with.  I have a "liberator nano" system that I used on my tarpon that I would be happy to move for a fair price.  you'd need to provide your own Lowrance FF, transducer, and battery, of course but that would be it.  It's already cut to the right length and includes the Lowrance ball mount, screwball and ball socket arm.  Very easy to install and remove!  of all the transducer arm systems, this was my favorite.  pm me if interested.
