Have you store you kayak this way ?

Just use a cable lock if worried about theft.

And make sure you cable lock it to the frame or solid part of your vehicle, not to the rack bar or tower; a sawzall all would only take a few minutes to cut it off.

Saw it done while having lunch in a restraunt; they chopped off all 4 towers, threw the entire rack mounted with windsurf boards in the back of there truck and drive off in less than 5minutes.......  . (Of course they took off there plates, so we couldn't really report them)

Maybe someone will tell me this is not a good way to store it, but I have mine in two slings, with the starboard side down, port up, against the inside garage wall.

I've seen a number of slings sold to store it this very way.  I don't think there is an issue with that.

Mine stay on my car most of the time...I take em off to dive or to loan them out or to sell them. 

I keep them upside down and don't crank the straps down TOO right and haven't had any oil canning issues to speak of...

Not to thread-jack, but my youngest has moved to Ukiah and needs a secure spot to store an Eddyline Equinox 14'.  He will pay for the storage.  Anybody?

Hmm, try Sarge or SBD, they may have or know of some storage possibilities there.

What about sun damage due to constant exposure? Any color fading?

That's because you don't live in Redding, they wouldn't make it past one summer 

My boats are going on 2-3 years depending on which one. They never come off of my truck and I am always ready to fish wherever I am. I live in basically the same heat as you. I carry upside down and have never had my Wildy boats oil can.
