Put an alarm on your kayak while away.

Before I get into the heart of the matter, let me tell you my experience with this company. I ordered one of these alarms with a 15’ cable so as to wrap the cable through a scupper hole, the trailer wheel and the frame. These are not motion detectors; one must cut the cable or pry the cable from the housing to make the alarm go off. By wrapping the kayak, wheel and trailer frame it is pretty much assured nothing will be tampered with (after seeing my photos, I’ll include the seat frame as well).

After I had ordered I anxiously awaited a verification E-Mail telling me they were shipping the alarm. A full 10 days went by and no contact. I E-mailed the company who told me they had computer issues of recent and orders got mixed up, but they would ship out that day. True to their word they did ship that day and I received the alarm. However, like all great computer issues, the order got transformed from a 15’ cable to a 5’ cable on delivery. At first I was not pleased, took a photo of the received alarm and a screen shot of the order showing the 15’ cable and E-mailed again.

I got a great response the following morning telling me to keep the 5 foot version as a token of apology and the 15’ version was being shipped that day. I received the correct alarm and all’s well that ends well; especially when I got the free gift for my patience. Now I’ve got one for the trailer and one for the roof rack and saved a few dollars.

They don’t mention this on their World Wide website, but the company is out of England, so there is a couple of day wait as the alarm clears customs, but no worries, I did get the product and I couldn’t be more impressed.

I’m guessing one or more of the local Kayak dealers should contact these folks to see about being a NW dealer or even a NW distributor; I’ll leave that to the dealers who happen to see this post.

www.LockAlarm.com will get you to their website; or contact your favorite dealer and ask them to get involved; I think you’ll both be happy with the product.  Be sure to use a string to see how long you’ll need for the cable as they come in various lengths; you’ll see what I mean on their Website. Plan on a 7-10 day wait for your order after shipping to give this time to clear customs.

When the alarm arrives, you’ll need to depress two tabs (see instructions in the package) with a flat blade screwdriver to get the box apart then install a high quality 9-volt battery. Test the battery installation by turning on the alarm with the cable not hooked up. The alarm is a shrill, pulsing, 120 decibel, screaming mimi. No doubt the alarm has gone off when you hear this thing.

I especially like the label warning would be thieves to beware. One less thing to worry about with this hooked up to your craft.
