Good luck Jeff!  I am headed to Shelter Cove this afternoon when I get off work.  It is a power boat trip but should be fun, I will be there the 6-9th.  Hoping to get in on that Thresher Shark action!  I look forward to hearing how you do at Trinidad.

I'll be there but I'm taking my 15 yr old nephew who's in town from Brookings. He wants to try kayak fishing...good kid.  Be nice to meet a few fellow ncka'ers before the rockfish wars.

I'm planning on being there but with sand between the toes (no Yak yet:). Have a great outing!

Went out of Trinidad today. Seas came up fast, before 8am. The buoy report from crescent city hasn't gotten any better and the forecast is to deteriorate. The Humboldt bay buoy is out of action so CC is the best we have.

Plan on a peak outside if it looks ok but I wouldn't venture too far. Inside the harbor down to camel rock has been fair for both lings and rockfish. The salmon are close, reports of 110' today trolling or mooching right off the bottom. That's pretty close if the seas cooperate, but I wouldn't count on that. Inside and south to camel rock should be just fine, protected from the swell by the head.

Lastly, the jumping jack charter had a bug up his ass today and waked us twice, once going out and once coming in.

How'd you do Codzilla?  Bag a salmon? Radio chatter said salmon bite was slow. Someone found some in 120 fow. We stayed on sheltered side from the head to camel rock and didn't do very well. I got one black rockfish and nephew caught a large sculpin. Ugly frickin fish. Lotta work for one keeper.  But he had fun for his first time out.

Great meeting you, I didn't do well,  I had one strike I think. my rod bent hard,  but nothing, it did trip the deep six. Then out by flat iron I had a yard sale and flipped my kayak. That was my first time falling out. What a bitch to flip that Predator over. I will be making something to aid in doing that. Lost a brand new rod, and a crap load of gear.  Trolling for salmon was cool. That was the furthest I have been out.

Oh that sucks man!  Losing gear bites!  Glad u got the yak righted and back in ur boat.  I was trying to press the importance of safety on my nephew. I'll make sure he knows about the spill. It will be a good lesson for him!  Didnt u have pool noodles on ur rods?  Thought I seen them on.
