I bought a nice one ( 8 bucks at a fishing store)and lost it- I am going to buy two more there again this friday but wanted input here first
I want to have one for me and my gal each in case my back is to her at a distance or wind and swell and her radio dies etc...I want to be able to know if she needs help..or me...or someone near me etc.

i think the money is not and issue as long as the whistle is top quality...cheap works too

We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.

I want to stay as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center.

I picked the ones up I have at West MArine a number of years ago when I worked for them.  Plastic, no metal.

I use my football official's classic Fox 40 whistle. Plastic, pealess, cheap and loud.

I love my Scotty whistle, like this one:

I've blown that thing so loud you could hear it miles away!  Only about 5$ too, for some peace of mind it's a cheap investment!

When on the water, you want to have a pea-less whistle because when the type with peas get wet, their volume is greatly reduced. Arguably, one of the best on the market is the Fox 40

I just took a mouthful of water and blew it through my whistle and continued blowing and it was just as loud as before.  Fox40 looks good, but I'll stick with my trusty Scotty.   :smt002

Pealess whistles never freeze, and the pea never gets stuck.
