Going fishing inTomales Bay for the first time for a couple of days, probably target Halibut I was wondering would the technique be the same as fishing in SF bay. Any other helpful tips would be great :smt006

I've never hook and line fished there Pat, but if you look on the lawson's landing fishing report you can see that divers have been getting them out front by the bar...and I saw some hook and line guys working the same area when I was diving.

Sounds like they get em on hook and line inside by Hog Island as well.

http://fishlawsons.blogspot.com/

The bait I saw while diving there were skinny little fish that were in thick schools...you can see what they look like in this screen shot of my vid...both butts I shot were stuffed with them...

The currents and tides out front seem to be pretty intense...and there are a lot of divers and PBs out there too so keep an eye out...

Best of luck!!

Jim

No worries Pat.

It was my first time up there and I was blown away by how pretty the whole area was...shooting some nice fish was just the cherry on top of spending a day with a good buddy in such a cool place...elk on the hill sides, cool side beaches, angel sharks, dungies, rock crabs, halibut, schools of bait...was like something out of a wildlife special on TV.
