I have never seen this before. And it's really strange to see it today because there haven't been any storms recently.
But the beaches from Monterey to Marina are covered in green algae kelpy stuff. It's crazy.
As far as the eye can see. Green stuff from the surfline to 60ft up the beach. It's about 6" deep in most places. And the surf is choked with it...turning the whitewash a frothy green color.
Any ideas what caused this?

I guess we did just have some precipitation recently, but hardly enough to create the runoff necessary to deliver fertilizer nutrients that normally cause an algae bloom...........
but maybe?????
