Looking for some waterproof pants (or long johns) and jacket to wear out on my yak when I don't feel like donning my wetsuit bottoms. The pant takes priority because I have a couple of waterproof windbreakers that work OK for now.

I saw a set of North Face wet weather gear (top and bottom- looked like the stuff you might see a commercial fisherman wearing) for sale on here the better part of a year ago for cheap and almost bought them, but didn't. I regret it every time I think about it! Hoping one of you guys has an extra set that you would let go of.

Somewhat unrelated, I'm also in the market for a pair of paddling gloves. The gardening gloves I've been using are OK, but on this weekend's paddle, I could feel them threatening to give me a blister (luckily they did not, but only because I was constantly tugging on them and adjusting them).

Would prefer to pay with paypal or local pick up. Located on the SF peninsula.

Thanks!

I can't answer the other stuff, but for paddling gloves...

To be honest, all I use are G-Tek gloves. http://www.envirosafetyproducts.com/media/catalog/product/cache/2/image/600x/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/3/4/34-874-a.jpg

That's what they look like. I don't know exactly how paddling gloves are different, those will be wet but all the paddling gloves I've seen won't keep you dry either. They are so t hin that it barely holds any water, there's no seams to rub on your skin, and best of all you can get them for like 4 bucks.

Don't get these confused for the rubber coated ones. I buy them for 5 bucks at a local plumbing distributor. Cal-Steam has them and they are in Dublin, SF, Hayward, San Leandro. They are very sturdy, I use them in HVAC work after all.

Just my 2 cents. Not an expert by any stretch of the imagination.

I highly recommend Buff Angler Gloves 2.  I've owned West Marine 3/4 sailing, NRS and Kokatat paddling gloves.  All fell apart in less than a year.  My Buff gloves are 2 years old and are going strong.  I like them so much I own 2 pairs. :smt001  Great for fishing too.

For waterproof pants check out Kokatat Hydrus 3L Tempest Paddling Pants.

If you're on a budget - check out Cabela's - I've bought 2 'pack-lite/rainy-river' gore-tex lightweight parkas over the last couple years - and use them on the kayak/ocean. Was given a pair of the same pants and they've been awesome in the cold/wind over my wetsuit, or like you said on days when a wetsuit isn't required. I usually wait till they're on sale a couple times a year - about 70-80 bucks for each. I love them, and they can be packed/sacked and stuffed into the tackle box, etc.

Gloves are different... for fishing, I've got to be pulling them off all of the time to deal with knots & hooks, haven't found a pair of 'fingerless' gloves that I liked. Some thin Craftsman work gloves from Sears have been the best for me... only $10 or so...

Good Luck!!
