Fished last Sun north of  San Simeon for the standard mix of too many blues, some browns, gophers and a few reds/  They were 1/2 canaries and half big vermillions.  Also got 4 just undersized lings, but my buddy got a legal one.   With the clear water, the fish appeared line shy, and they did better when I switched over to a 20 foot flouro leader.   Nice flat day w/ little wind!  They were all caught on leadhead jigs.

Ack.  What depth were your canaries down there?  We don't see them too often where we normally fish.  We are thinking about heading down that way next weekend.
Saltwater is the cure for everything that ails us,
sweat, tear or the sea.

I usually fish outside the kelp in 80-100 ft of H2O
