I believe Sierra Nevada has a recipe on their website were they use Pale Ale.

I like the king of beers.I dont know why but I dont like drinking Budweiser but it cooks really good
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Really any pale ale or pilsner will work perfectly. I love a nice hoppy IPA/DIPA in my glass but am not a big fan of that heavy hop flavor in beer can chicken.  :beer1

I usually have some lame fruit or flavored seasonal beer left in the fridge and I use that

I agree with VK. I prefer brine.... but you can still easily achieve the the nice crispy golden skin also!!! my 2 cents
