This will be my first season of doing some Salmon fishing from a kayak.  All the places I know to fish are places I fished from a boat and I remember those places get pretty crowded once the run gets going.  Are there more yak friendly areas for those of us that want to catch some chrome along the river and in the delta?  I was think I could give the Moke a try since it is smaller and may not get as much pressure but I know nothing about it.

Once the season heats up, you pretty much have to fish in the middle of all the power boats. Just be careful because a lot of boaters are paying more attention to their rods than to the surroundings.

I took my wife to the Howe ave access to fish for salmon. That part of the River is restricted to slower speeds. I was only there a few times, but there was no log jam of boats. It is good kayak access and the water was manageable even for my wife. The entrance is on La Riviera just on the east side of Howe Ave. It is a pay to park launch ramp.

I have not fished the American for Salmon in quite some time.  I usually like the Sacramento or the Delta more for Salmon because the fish appeared to be in much better shape then they would be on the American.  May have to give the American a try again.

I caught a salmon on the napa river last year in very good condition. I think it is the exception more than the rule over there though. I am interested in checking out clarksburg, but I don't know how crowded it gets there during the salmon run.

Clarksburg is top on my list right now.  It does get some boat traffic but not nearly as bad as freeport.  Fishing is good there as well.

The whole river has traffic. Just be careful and make sure you're visible and you'll be fine. Also the current can be a bit strong so time your launch and landings based upon tides. Generally recommended to fish above your launch area so its easier to get home

I fish Walnut Grove area every year because I have a place three miles downriver from the public dock.  It can be a little crowded on the water but I haven't had a problem.  When they get going this year I will post a hookup to launch at my place if you want to try it.  Slayed them last year.

Late afternoons are best for yak fishing the south sac river ( rio vista area).  Most boats are off the water by 4 or 5pm that have been fishing all morning.
