Sunday morning Patrick and I took a good friend (Lee) out for his first time kayak fishing to Tomales Bay. After a brief tutorial we made our way to one of the coves out past Hog Island and made bait. We loaded our bait buckets with shiners and started our drift.

About and hour into our drift Lee hooks up and calmly brings the fish to the kayak and lands it. I asked what the bite felt like and he responded ...it felt like he snagged a piece of kelp....fed it some line....raised the rod up and it was fish on! He kept the fish just below the surface as we instructed him and I pedaled over and gaffed it for him. This was his first kayak fish and I think He Is Now Hooked On Kayak Fishing.

We fished for a couple more hours for nada. The weather and bay conditions were excellent but the water was a bit murky. Another Great Adventure With Family and Friends!!

Made it look like there is nothing to it! Just go over there, get your bait, go over there, get your fish!
Congrats!!

Apparently he listens well... Sounds like a good student. Hope he appreciates the talent he was following.  Always love spreading the virus  :smt004 Mix some knowledge with a little luck and ya never know. Good to hear Patrick fiiiiiinally got on the water again. My son is finally coming back to the sport, now that his work schedule has settled down.
