It feels a little odd to share something in the safety section, especially a PFD, but this showed up on Facebook yesterday and I thought that someone might find some value.
Im having some recall difficulty (fatigue) but I believe it was early last year. The water was cold.
We were testing the predators, the big frontier, the latest WS ride, and some random paddles including the very interesting "butter knife" that I was using in this video. When I first saw it, I thought it was ridiculous but when used as a stand up stick, I really enjoyed it and it is surprisingly balanced for having a blade with a handle coming out of the face. Also, the little predator was the most enjoyable and smartest of the boats that I spent time in. It was very impressive for a boat with such odd lines and that looked a little over done. I wouldn't mind having one.
Sorry, Ill get back on topic (again, fatigue). The inflatable PFD test was very educational.
Especially for a guy who had only worn traditional paddling vests. When I put it on, I made sure that I had a nice snug fit. I learned later that this was a mistake. When I inflated the vest it felt a bit violent around my face. Shocking actually, but the cold water may have been a factor. It felt huge/tight and I struggled to move through the water.  When I got to the boat, the inflated vest created a much larger barrier between my chest and the hull. It seemed difficult to get the boat back over and then get back in. The Predator rides a little high so that may have made things more challenging too.
Anyway, this might be a good product for some and I am no expert, but I really didn't appreciate the experience. I did appreciate the opportunity to try it out and hopefully help someone who is considering about going with a inflatable.

T,

Looks like a beautiful day.   Noticed the paddle had extra on it.  Interesting idea.

Thanks for the info

Don't think it's for me, although I can see the value in a situation where you couldn't re-enter the boat.

I liked your boat exit- clean.  Looked snug, but your heads not going under with that.

Thanks

Aaron
