If I am camping/fishing at the ocean for the weekend how many rockfish/lingcod am I allowed to have in my ice chest back at camp?  Is it just one daily limit?  I looked in the DFG regs and I could only find the daily limit.

I don't think you're ever allowed to have more than a daily possesion limit whether in an ice chest, on a boat or in a fridge unless you have a permit (2 day boats out of morro have multi day rf trips). Actual enforcement may vary.

Art is correct but remember you can gift your first limit to another person, like your GF so you can still legally keep 2 limits assuming that person is with you.

I'd make it a point to keep both of those limits in separate ice chests.  F&G can be pretty anal about that kind of stuff on cattle boats, we got warned in HMB for having three separate sacks for 3 fishermen in the same ice chest while only two of us were carrying it.  We thought it was about the stupidest thing we'd ever heard but lil sis got stuck dragging her fish down the pier to the truck..  Not sure if they'd respond in the same manner to campers but I wouldn't put it past them.

You could always put a 3rd handle on that ice chest.. :smt003
Any infraction they can pinch you on chances are they will .
They don't generate revenue by giving warnings.
I have seen some pretty ridiculous citations issued. Fortunately I have never received one, but I have had a close call.
One time I couldn't find my punch card. I knew it was in my truck. Already filled it out and got stopped at Stillwater North while loading my gear into my truck.
I could see the warden salivating as I frantically searched for it. Seemed to just vanish. Then my some miracle I saw a tiny corner of it sticking out.
Somehow it slid across my dashboard and fell in the tiny crack between the dashboard and side panel.
I did love the look of disappointment on his face when he saw I was legal.
