Long shot but I know there are several pinoys and HAC's that regularly go to southeast asia.  I plan to be in the Philippines from Feb - Mar 2015 and plan to fish/dive siquijor island.  If anyone is interested let me know and we could schedule it.  I will be there for 2 months so my schedule can be flexible.  I intend to fish/dive for at least 5-7 days.  I made contact with Vamforce through the spearboard forum.  He has people that can guide us fishing as well as spearfishing dive buddies.  If you are interested let me know which week you can make it.

Hi lapulapu, You will definitely progress deep diving cause water is very comfortable, will be in a range of 26-29C.
Our guys will look after and would act as spearfishing guides and basic safety buddies. We have weights and few rail guns, in 110-130 range. But it's always great to have your own gears. We also have weights.
As for the accommodation, there are many motels and resorts, in a price range of $12-70.

Last time, during competition, we book the whole motel. The room was $15. Very basic, but you only sleep there. 5 min boat ride to a very productive reef with cutas.

There are also 3* resorts. Google Coco Grove Beach Resort, they have a dive centre.

Hey Rey,

I have a ton of Hawaiian Airlines miles and I think they might work on a trip to the PI.  I don't qualify as a Pinoy on the outside but I think I might be at least part Pinoy on the inside.  I'm gonna look into the Hawaiian Airlines miles and see if I can join in the fun.

Martin, you know you are more Pinoy than most people I know.  Besides you have been there before in your younger years so you can call yourself a balikbayan.   :smt002  It would be so much fun showing you around the islands and of course fish with you in those outriggers and maybe from kayaks too in Luzon island.  We don't have to worry about hotel accommodations while in Luzon.  Hope you can use them Hawaiian miles.  If not the round trip airfare right now via PAL (Philippine Airlines) is only $1019 for economy flight.

Rey,

Sounds like a fun trip. You retiring too? It is nice. Been there for over a year now down here in Texas. Just chillin, C&R'n LMB's and watching my pups. Becoming one hella cook and smoking dude and even beat out a bunch of Texas homies in a brisket competition :smt003

Sounds like you are enjoying your retirement.  One of these days we hope to see you here in one the NCKA pot-lucks so we can get a taste of your competition killer brisket.  Now you got all that time you should join us in PI.

Thanks Rey.  After just buying the "Man Van", I'm not sure I would be able to swing a solo vacation.  Maybe the stock market will provide me with a windfall and I can take the vacation and do something for Sue to keep things fair.   It's still a long way off; so who knows?  Maybe I can make it happen.

Yup, still a long ways off.  By that time you will have more than you need from your stock windfall.   The way it has been going lately that's a great possibility.  But then, now that I'll be finally retired next year we plan to go home every year.  You can go with us whenever you are ready.

Thanks Rey.  If not next year, I'm going to take you up on your generous offer some day soon.  You and Patty are great hosts and Loose Screws family. I look forward to your retirement and weekday fishing trips and RV camping with you guys.  We should do a Pismo trip this summer.  There are lots of places to RV camp.  Maybe the September kayak fishing tourney.
