Anyone launch at Yorty in the last couple of weeks? How is the mud?
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

Charms has been fishing it and said its pretty nasty.  The water has dropped down low enough again that the level is now below where he had shoveled it out last time.  Make sure to take some clothes and boots that you don't mind getting nasty!

It's bad enough at the launch with mud now that you'll want to launch from the beach or wash off at the beach when done with the ramp, LOL!! The mud/clay showing is slick as ice on the firm areas or you sink in other spots. It's tuff if you have a heavier kayak because you have to carry it over the rip rap or wheel it around. The beach has a sandy patch if beach goers haven't set up there! If you have a Hobie Mirage drive be careful I know the way around pretty good and I bent mine with a tree down deeper just hitting mine even in the main lake. Let me sum it up I love fishing Yorty because it's basically in my backyard but myself and others I've talked to are either going elsewhere now or about too. What's a shame is the launch actually goes out a fair amount farther it's just under mud and the Corp of Engineers told me they can't afford to come up and dig it out right now because of no funding plus a piece of equipment broke they can't afford to fix to do it. I dug by shovel last fall and that's stuff is back breaking doing it by yourself, but worth it for while it lasted.
I'm off this Friday and am on the fence if I still want to try it again!

Without actually seeing it, I'm not sure what I'm volunteering for but I'd be game for a shoveling mud party.
Maybe some fishing and BBQ afterwards?
I can't make it this Friday or this weekend but the following Thursday or weekend is a option.
Just throwing it out there...

Thanks for the ramp intel. Too bad, I was thinking of going there this weekend.
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

I launched out of there yesterday, the bottom of the ramp is pretty nasty with deep mud, sunk probably 4" past my ankles.  On the landing we went for the beach, and it was mud free.  Not too bad to carry the kayak over the rocks and on to the ramp.  Definitely worth hitting up still, the top water frog bite has turned on pretty good on the Cherry Creek arm.
