Dangerous Trebles and I with wives and Hobies in tow will be staying in the cabins at Manzanita Lake near Lassen Fri thru Sunday. Should we plan to hit Almanor maybe Sunday on the way back?

If you're around during the evening, then I'd say absolutely.  Hex Hatch is kicking into full gear right now.  With a fly rod, drag Hex nymphs 20-30 feet down on a sinking line.  With spinning gear, mooch a mealworm a foot off the bottom.  Some dandies are coming in right now--a guy on my block landed a 30 inch brown last Saturday!  He released the fish too, so he's still swimming around out there.  If you're looking for action, try Hex emergers or dries in the shallows for smallmouth bass.  The hatch will intensify over the next couple weeks, at least into early July.

But if you're not around to fish from 6pm to dark, I wouldn't bother.  Fishing the Hex Hatch is strictly an evening thing.
