Why didn't someone warn me???!! :'-(

.... Ok so I was warned and I didn't listen I have been storing my yak on its wheels in the shop and noticed this nice fat dent when I took it out Sunday.  Now what??? It was mostly popped out when the day was over. Will it fix itself?  It's not really in an accessible spot in the hull where I could push from the inside.

You can try laying the kayak upside down in the Stockton sun. The heat will soften the plastic and with luck it will pop back into shape. If that does not work, then turn it over and rest it on a flat surface. Then fill the hull with hot water. The heat will soften the plastic, and the water pressure on the dent will force the hull back into its original shape.

Lay it out in the sun just like in the picture. Damn. Good luck. Where are you located? If it doesn't come out after a couple of days I would call customer service. I would be willing to try and help. I'm in Petaluma.

I like the hot water idea just not sure about filling the hull with water. I have heard it can put too much pressure on seams and cause leaks.

I will have to go check it out in the afternoon today to see how it looks now. Just on the drive to the lake it straightened a bit. I have it sitting on two lengthwise 4x4s now so it should lessen the stress on one point.  I'll give it a couple days I could always take it into Dan

That sucks. I even worry about leaving mine on the cart overnight at the lake. How long between uses had it been stored on the wheels? Was it unusually hot?

Yeah it was in the shop for the past  week with those 100+ days I actually thought it would be better on the kart than flat on the ground for some reason...

Filling the hull with hot water should not put too much pressure on the seams resulting in leaks. I bought all my kayaks used, and I did this to my Prowler 13, Trident 13, and Tarpon 140 to test for leaks. I also do this once a year to dissolve the salt that accumulates inside the hull after a season on the ocean. Just make sure to do it on level ground, and not on 4x4s, so the keel has maximum contact with the ground for support.

My Hobie popped back into shape after a day in the sun.  Good luck.

My revolution did this.  It popped out in sun.  Lesson learned.

Sorry to thread jack but is the ground or cart better for storage? What kind in cart was it on, a flat one or the type that goes through the hull like hobie?
