Plasti Dip is a better option and can be removed when you decide you don't like it.

I think this would be a better option. You mention you only want the camo pattern for duck hunting. What happens when duck season is over, you're stuck with that color. Might not be a good color when fishing. Most kayaks are colored brightly (yellow, orange, red) so they are  easier to spot by power boaters and or other kayakers in your group.

Thanks that's a very cheap alternative. Especially if I can peel it off later.

And I said the dune color bothers me anyway. I want it a different color, more earthy, all the time. I know high vis is safer but i can't  stand the bright colors in kayaks. Ill just use a flag or something.

I wonder if plasti dipping the bottom of my yak would help protect it from scratches.

The PlastiDip won't help with scratches at all.  It's really just a paint type substance and would scratch it you hit rocks or dragged the yak over an abrasive surface.

You can use Keel Shield or a similar product on high wear areas to protect the hill though.

Plasti dip looks cool but comes in either black or bright colors. Nothing earthy there.

What ever you decide, practice on a plastic milk carton first(?).

PS. "If" I had an orange yak, I'd add tiger stripes.

Our world was NOT deeded to us by our forefathers... it was loaned to us by our children.

I haven't painted a Hobie but had great luck with Krylon Fushion on a Malibu Pro Explorer. It started life bright blue, I hit it with a base layer of green, then blobbed on tans/whites/black, and came back with a grass stencil.  It saw a lot of action as a duck boat/decoy sled, and any areas that would get scratched I'd just hit with a rattle can.  Not as clean as a wrap (I would be wary of this because of the 'shine' of vinyl anyways), no netting to get in the way, and a total of about $20 into it.
