Have a home made cart and gets the job done but when very low tide and or thick sand, it don't work for crap. Want to upgrade. From everything I've read the big wheelez are the best. Pricey though. Worth the $ in your guys opinion or what other good ones you guys use?

After buying and using my first Wheeleze I then slapped my forehead and said "Why didn't I buy one sooner?"

I did the same thing as you, built my own.  Then my wife bought me the Wheeleze, and I love it.  Wouldn't trade it for anything, plus with my OK Trident 13 I can take it apart with the pins and store it in my front hatch.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

The 12 step process for "wheels"

1. Think you don't need them and drag or carry your yak (lasts about three trips or one drag over MBK)
2. Make your own or buy the "other kind" - there are several
3. Realize they only "kinda" work OR they break
4. Ask everyone about Wheeleez
5. Worry how expensive they are
6. Ask/look for someone selling used (a true miracle!)
7. Face reality
8. Buy new
9. Use them
10. Realize you wasted money and time with ANYTHING else - and try and sell the other ones
11. Comment on the next post about "wheeels" - You will have lots of opportunities
12. Slap yourself in the head for not inventing them  :smt044

Does anyone else have a problem with the pins coming out of the axle when least expected?

Never, but I do carry an extra set just in case.  They were $4.99.  Cheap insurance.

Pins: After losing a couple, I found  "R-Clips" at OSH that work well - I've used the same set for over 5 years.  You'll find them in the area where they have a lot of small parts: nylon washers, pegs for holding up shelves, etc.  Get ones that just fit into the  axle holes, about 3" long. They aren't stainless, so when they begin to rust - about every year, I just sand them off and put some oil or Corrosion-X on them to help them slide in and  out.  At first, I was afraid they'd snag on stuff, but that hasn't been a problem, and they'll fit in the holes in the top of the frame when you take the wheels off to stow it into your hatch.
