Kayak Connection Fishing Derby Sunday 9/7/2014 Official results pg. 13

Big thanks to everyone that came out today for the tournament, I think I can say with confidence that a great time was had by all!

Also, I want to send another big shout out of thanks to Mike Mowrey of Ocean Kayak that donated the winning boat, and to Werner paddles for the gorgeous fiberglass paddle for 2nd place.

Lots of love for the NCKA community - you guys make this derby happen and together you raised $2000 for the Monterey Bay Salmon & Trout Project.  Nice work!

Sorry I wasn't there guys. I woke up at 2am and passed a kidney stone, then fainted and hit my head on the bathroom sink. Then slept til 10am. In bed all day Sunday and hurts to stand up today...have a Dr appt this afternoon

lost anchovy (sp) won with this salmon below are some pic as he gets his net and lands the winning fish...size? dont know was washing up and storing my gear for that part

my camera for the water was dead,my land camera was brought in a zip lock and settings were wrong=sucky pics

FWIW worth i put personal call into the shop thanking them and letting em know my buddy Ron bought a gaff he loves yesterday and I am buying one next weekend also ,on  the 20-21st when we come back up to shop there and paddle out for fishing Santa Cruz...i know where to stop in and shop for sure

okay Tony ...I will post some of your fish fight pics when I get home today around 5ish - they are on my home laptop...but be prepared    they are rough stuff...at one point you have your hand on it .  ....you might need a hug when you see the pics...

FWIW Amy lost something Huge right there too, about 20-30 minutes later...some folks saw me yelling and paddling over  to try and get her to reel it up...we found out afterward,her drag was set too loose and in the excitement she forgot how to set it tighter  . (even though there are a few folks who took her side and claim I made her loose the winning fish  )..the fish got off but only after like 2 minutes and some dead slack time added...she had no net or gaff(getting one now she says  ) and I dont think we are allowed to help someone land a fish????? does anyone know if help is allowed
