All the more experienced fishing derby meisters wanted to fish in this tournament, so I am excited to say that I have been nominated the derby meister for Kayak Connection's derby this Saturday.

For those last minute sign ups, or rentals, I will be at Kayak Connection around 6:30 am on the day of the clinic.

As you know the weigh in is 1 pm, but I will be at the dock on the west side of the harbor starting at 11 am for those of you who slay em' early.

Dave and Jessica will be preparing some killer BBQ for the awards ceremony, so stick around, and please bring your own folding chairs, our facilities are a bit limited.

I am very excited this event has resurrected, and wish you all good luck!

Thanks Travis!!!!

I will be back to dock as soon as Valentina gets tired/bored...so may see you there nice and early!  :smt044

Reeally looking forward to it!

Thanks again Dave, Jess and Kayak Connection!

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim

Boy, there was some epic swells today. I thought Chewbacca was gonna get sunk  :smt044

On the way back the swell was so high I could not see the skyline anymore. All land was gone. Yikes!a

Big south swell.  Be Careful going  out and especially returning to the harbor.  Long-period swell, let the set steam through, then sprint.

Wait and watch, sets can be 8-12 waves, and there can be 10 minutes between sets.  Be careful wear your pfd clipped and zipped!!  Make sure you have your vhf and it is charged.  Call for help on CH 16 (CG)  or Ch 9 (SC Harbor)  Ch 69 (fishing) should be the last to use if in trouble.

Winning a derby is awesome, but returning safely is more important.

Good luck to all.  I recc. deeper water outside mile buoy (Secret Reef #3).  rig for lingcod

We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.

I want to stay as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center.

People aren’t supposed to look back. I’m certainly not going to do it anymore.”
