For me, fishing almost exclusively in salt on the north coast, making longer runs, and beating the wind and waves, I won't use anything smaller than a T-160.  I wish they made a 170.

180 would be my style. Maybe a long ass touring boat would do well?

Pretty well done, but it was kinda funny that he hadn't even paddled a 160 yet.

I'd like to paddle a 160.

Not what most NCKAer's would call rockfish - Genus, Sebastes - but you're right, its a East Coast versus West Coast thing.

"The striped bass (Morone saxatilis), also called Atlantic striped bass, striper, linesider, rock, or rockfish, is the state fish of Maryland, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and the state saltwater (marine) fish of New York, New Jersey, Virginia, and New Hampshire."

I know my regional fish nomenclature pretty well 

Sometimes a striper is a rockfish. Other times a striper is a rock bass.
But a stripper is always a stripper.
