Growing up in third world country, we forage our food. If its edible we eat it..Believed it or not these are on the menus..

Balut is a bit pricey..the rest are catch able.

Kamaru (My Favorite), Barang (Locust), Bayawak (Monitor Lizard), Sawa (Constrictor), Paniki (Fruit Bats).

THEY ALL TASTE LIKE CHICKEN!!!

So what is the most Bizarre food you ever had?

I went to Thailand for a few weeks and tried scorpions and bugs at a festival,  but I am sure I tried other things without knowing.   Sometimes it's better not to know.

I once had a surreal meal in Vanuatu eating a flying fox, cooked french style in a red wine reduction.

At the time way back when I was ninteen. It was urchin roe. My Dad and I were diving off Tomales head for abalone and we met some Asian guys eating the roe. They made the sign of an erect penis, How could we not lose face and not eat it. :smt003

I cooked up American shad roe for the first time last night.  Dusted with seasoned flour and fried in bacon grease for a few minutes.  Actually turned out pretty good.  Difficult to describe it...kinda like eating a soft, bacon/fish flavored meatball.  I'd definitely eat it again!

Dam my doctor told me to eat some yogurt and I thought that was bad most of this is over the top. My wife's family liked Cow brains for christmas morning. I would not touch them. But now they can't get them any more, due to mad cow disease.

Hmmm... I'll admit it, I've eaten some "strange."  :smt044

Okay, lemme see... While in the Army back in the day, I ate from a street vender bbq-ing outside of a Panamanian bar.  The lady just said, "cow."

My entire time in Panama, I never saw a cow...  It was red meat, kinda tough and chewy, but tasted amazing!  Never saw Panamanians eating them though.  I sleep nights telling myself it was either monkey skewers or coatimundi kababs.  Oh well... at least they were fully cooked and tasted good.

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.
