Get the 65 inch long bars from malone.

Easy to put two fat yaks on top and even a third in the middle on top...

I would but I have no way to attach them...

What is the bow strapped to in that pic? Even with a rack you still need to crawl underneath and ratchet strap the bow and stern?

Just remember if you have like 66" bars and they extend out past the vehicle (especially on a short car like a Sentra) they are gonna be a hazard for anyone who walks around the car.  I bump my head occasionally on my racks and they're only 58".

Ben,
You need a taller car.  :smt044

If you're doing a craigslist or eBay search, you'll want to look for Yakima Q towers. They're old enough to find commonly second hand, and still in production, so they fit almost all modern cars. The fit kit for each car shouldn't cost more than $40. A quick search on the Yakima site will tell you what you need. A set of Q towers shouldn't cost more than $100 used, bars another $50.

So will the fit kit come off and the bars go on a vehicle with the track? I hate to sound cheap but I know the minute I buy a rack for my car it will break down.

Jim that rack looks like all it does is protect the car. My car is trash. I'm just looking for an easier safer way to tie down. Ought now I just run ratchets through the scupper and over te back and pass it through my windows. Which is pretty easy except it tends to shift in transit an turn sideways. Which can be fixed by tying the bow down, but there's only one crappy anchor point that jagged and waaay under the car. Near the middle.

Some guys use a product like this to create a tie down point up front.

There was another thread on it recently too.

Good luck.

My Outback won't fit on a J rack because of the hull shape.

Outbacks fit just fine on J-Racks....  for 1,000's of miles.

What kind if j racks do you have?  After I bought my j racks and couldn't fit them to my outback I found a number of posts on different forums that the outback doesn't fit j racks.
"Pedo Viejo" is what Antonio called me.

They are Yakimas.   I had no issue of any kind. Went right up,  Don't know what they are talking about.
That pic is when I went to Reno for work, then hit Boca on the way back. 65 mph the whole way.

This is so confusing. My head hurts. Probably making this harder than it is but I still don't know where to start. Some say this works others no it doesnt...
