Nice so far, but one question .... Why have the heaviest load (kayaks) on top, and the lighter load (bike's) on the bottom? Seems a little backwards.

My camping tote probably weighs in at 50lbs loaded and then the ice chest is pushing more than the tote so I wanted those on the bottom since they're heavy like the kayaks, but you're constantly in the totes. I still need something for my poles, paddles and something to hold the easy up. I've got a ton of aluminum I can use and rivet on which may happen.

Got the trailer licensed and that was a joke. They didn't check anything, just looked at it asked the weight. Its not completely done but was usable for last weekends trip.

The only thing that I don't like about using trailers in California is that you are limited by DMV law to a maximum of 55 mph even if the posted speed limit is 70 mph and everyone's doing 85 mph.

This can easily add an hour of extra travel time for usually a 3.5 hour trip without trailer.  Even if you are pulling a super lightweight empty trailer, the maximum speed limit of 55 mph applies.

True that!  I like to trailer a little slower anyways so I just plan accordingly.
