Planning a few days of off-the-grid camping on the lake @Don Pedro.  Anyone have any fishing Intel that is up to date?  Plan is to drop the boat in the water next Friday & spend a few days camping on the pontoon boat.

Thanks!

Bill

From the word in the gold country the koke's are anywhere from 15ft to 50ft right now. Start shallow in the morning and then switch deeper if the water temp starts to rise.

Never fished them.  Any part of the lake I should target?  Lures?

Thanks!

Never fished Don Pedro myself, but trolled both Pardee and New Melones. Same stuff works in them all. Small chrome n pink dodger w/ a pink hoochie tipped with shoe peg corn garlic scented. Scan for the schools and start trolling when you locate them.

Picked up some small pink koke lures today.  I'll give em a try.  Camped quite a few times at DP but never put any serious effort into fishing.  This time will be strictly fishing and doing some HD sonar recording.  Hopefully camping a couple nights on the water.

Sweet I like pink!!! You should have no prob with getting limits. Just watch your speed and leader length. The kokes will be in big schools and show easily on even a cheap ff.
find a school and troll thru. 1.2-1.7 works best for me. Don't forget to soak some shoe peg corn in pro-cure.
 Garlic is my fav.

I'm a noob at this.  What should my leader length be?  Any area of the lake a good area to target? Time of the day?  I suspect earlier the better?  Down rigger a best way to get to them?  I have 2 on the boat.  This sounds fun.  I'm not short of lowrance electronics onboard. ;)

12-18" on the leader.on the 12" side for hoochies. Spinners and apexes go abit longer. I'm not sure where there getting them there. Just look for the fleet. When you see the north river pass you follow.

When I fished bass tournaments I use to love going to Don Pedro, such a beautiful lake with tons of bald eagles.  The lake use to be crystal clear, you could see the bottom in real deep areas.

I don't have nay info since that was years ago, but you'll have a good time out there.  The fish bite is on big everywhere right now for all kinds of fish.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

Here's a screen shot I took on my plotter in one of the coves I camped out at.  Water was down 92'.  Launch ramp was still open but for how much longer ... nobidy really knows.  The camp sites that are normally waterfront are WAAAAAAYYYYY up the hill from the lake now.  The lake has an odd feeling about it with water dropping.  Spent a good couple days on the water.  Didn't fish ... just drove around the lake & captured sonar recordings for a future Insight Genesis class that was requested after the last Lowrance seminar.  Working on it right now!  Gas at the marina was nearly $6.00/gallon so I tired to make the most of my time on the water.  Saw a group of kayakers camping out on one of the exposed points Friday night.

By that image ... the water temp in that cove was 74.4°  That was fairly typical throughout the lake.  Got a report at the dock from a fisherman that the trout were deep 70-85' down near Jenkins & Graveyard.  Marked them but didn't hardly wet a line the two days I was up there.  Saw the charter boats trolling that area too so figured it was "the spot".
