Hobie scupper scratches?

I'm thinking they shave down the scupper so that the black plastic can stick better to it?

Is this normal?

Totally normal the inserts are threaded in to the scuppers. That just shavings from the tap. Heat gun them off if you want to or just leave them, your choice
