Just catch two cabs the exact same size. Release one then kill the other for the side pot.  Actually I felt a little bad keeping that one last year but I knew it would put me in contention for the side pot. I was fishing with no FF on tourney day which made it even more interesting since I had never fished shelter before!

Absolutely. The biggest dead fish brought in wins no matter what else you have released.
