  Ended up with an 18" straight, non Hickory handle.  $6.99 my local Ace, it was the one in that length, there was a 14" Hickory, Boys Axe handle $6.97 but it looked to be a little short for my Axe head.
  The handle is unfished and doesn't quite fit so there'll be some sanding to get the axe head onto the new haft.
  I'm thinking of treating the new handle with some teak oil, its what we have at home at the moment.  I'll post shots of it tomorrow.
  Here are the shots of new handle.  I also posted a few of our little "Kindling splitter"
