You don't need any guides just get out and look for them

gotta get serious here and get my work done or I won't be seeing the water any time soon

ciao

if anyone talks to the Chef give him our regards

Saw a couple of trucks on the lagoon road with kayak racks but didn't see any kayaks on the water, maybe they left before the fog lifted Any one else go out?
Three of us total newbes went out Tuesday from the lagoon. Having never paddled offshore in thick fog, we kinda hung inside the reef, trying to catch bait, until the fog lifted. Of coarse, once it did, the wind came up and we did not want to head all the way out toward the bouy. We found some 8 or 10', capping swells off the reef :smt005. That had my blood pumping.

Basicaly, we just flailed around like the anchovies we are!

Nice fish. Where did you launch from? How come you weren't there to hold our hands out in the deep water? :smt010

I launched the mouth of the lagoon around 7:30 and probably paddled right past you guys on my way outside the reef You should've made more noise I heard voices in the fog but figured it was boats fishing rockies

If it's fogged in I usually aim straight at DR1 from the mouth but I went above and trolled down  It's almost a straight shot south from the mouth to the buoy

The break there is pretty consistent so next time just go between the places it's breaking It can be tricky in the fog but what the heck the worst that can happen is you take a swim  In 2004 I got tossed out closer to the buoy in 15-20ft break It renews one's appreciation for the terra firma

Looks like the weather's funky tomorrow so I'm probablly not going out til next week which is an eternity when the fish are moving through in little bunches like this My wife'll be happy Be nice to live up that way

Mooch, thanks for the pointer to the article. It explained a lot. Too bad the Salmon seem mostly over down South fo the Gate, but there's always next year and meanwhile is Bendo2 and Forebay Striper time then SMBs and whatever after that.

I always say, if anyone can do it ... and he did!
I know the tan problem. I have the same problem with chronic mask-face.

Great catch.
When I am sick I always lay on a lounge chair in the sun. It helps me sweat it out and the sun provides much needed vitamins and the fresh air is better for you than what's inside. Of course I wear a hat when I do this. It always leaves a mark when I accidentally fall asleep.  :smt002

I was wearing a revolutionary guard hat I got in Beijing  Keeps your head toasty but not good for much if the fog burns off

big line across the forehead

I'm betting next week will be better if the weather cooperates
