Good to see CA's only native centrarchid being represented on NCKA.  Right on Aaron!  I intend to put up a Sac perch for AOTY as well.  Found a pattern for them last year that I'm hoping to exploit again this spring.  Largest I landed last year was 13 inches, but I saw bigger  :smt003.  Where'd you get your fish Aaron?

FYI.  I caught this one in '06 in my pre Kayak days drifting minnows at San Luis Res.  I've never seen one before.

That is a beauty! The few I have caught have all been really small.

I've wanted to post a sac perch or tule perch or yellow perch ever since the aoty rules/species expanded. I'm not surprised it was Aaron who went and did it! Nice work man.

Thanks guys.
I never thought my 7" sac perch would have won such praise.  I was almost too embarrassed to post it.   Almost.   I am hunting one like those that Clayman speaks of.  13+... :smt007

I caught maybe 15 of them on Saturday, the 7" was biggest with the rest at 5 or less.  Drop shotting a crawler on light line.

Just so we can squash the "no pics = didn't happen" argument, here's a 13 incher I pulled last spring.  Caught her dragging a 3 inch brown tube along the bottom fishing for smallmouth.

Second picture is a Sac perch on a spawning bed (top) with a largemouth harasser (center).  For scale, the largemouth was around 15 inches long.  I was able to tempt the largemouth into biting, but not the perch  :smt044.

I forgot to mention this earlier.  Take a look at the tail pic.  Does that look like a bite mark?  If so what do you think bit it, and what would chase a 7" fish for dinner?

With the recent Sac Perch posts, I really want to catch one now.  Sounds like San Luis Res might be a decent local option.  Any other intel on how to target them?
