I do not know if this has been posted before it is a scuba diver hanging out with a school of ghost...it is mesmerizing in my eyes.

Great video. Has anyone here ever spear fished a seabass ? Is it legal to spearfish them? If you did, I would imagine you would have your hands full.

There are a number of things about this video...that lead me to believe it was filmed somewhere along the Cen Coast.

It's legal.  I've speared some.  If you stone it (kill shot) then they're just another dead fish.  It also depends on where you are hunting for them.  Some places are shallow and even if they tangle up on the bottom, they're relatively easy to extract.  Other places are deep and after a fight the fish tangles on the bottom 60-90', and your heart is beating fast, your body full of adrenaline, then its hard to try and hold your breath to dive down and cut your fish out. 

I will be happy just getting another 1 on a hook.

So Do seabass tend to dive to the bottom to escape or hide in the rocks when speared?? Not that im going spear fishing from them any time soon. I look more like that harbor seal in the video but don't move as gracefully.

I've never speared WSB on reefs without kelp.  The WSB I've speared in kelp forests usually tend to dive.  Some have gone horizontal and tangled in mid water.

Sure.  I can answer simple questions about spearing them, but I'm far from being an expert.  Although at one point I was sure I knew everything there was to know about hunting them    Then I realized all the rules I know were probably coincidental encounters.  I don't have any videos of me hunting them.  I wasn't at that point where I could film them as I was still too excited (kinda) even just to see and shoot them.
