I never thought I'd be into the camper thing.  I always sleep in the truck and that's fine with me.  But my wife's been hinting at doing some longer trips AND bringing the dogs with, so I'm in the market for a little pop up camper.  I'm fairly handy, so if it needs some work, I can dig it.  If you or anyone you know is looking to upgrade or sell, keep an eye out for a brother,  thanks!  :smt006

Pop up tent trailer Craig.  I like the idea of being able to detach my vehicle and not have to break down camp iffin I got to go to the store.  How bout I drop the steel off in petaluma and you weld one up for me?? :smt003  :smt006

A-frame or canvas type?
A-frame sets up in less than a minute, literally. Breaks down just as fast and is 4 seasons.

Sweet Craig!  Thanks bro!

Tote, those A frames are sweet, but come with a price tag.  I'm not fully committed to that yet.  I think a crappy pop up that the dogs can destroy would be sweet!

I just looked on Craigslist, there are a lot of tent trailers on there.  FWIW, if you get a Coleman or Fleetwood be sure to get one that has an aluminum roof as there are lots of problems with the ABS roofs.

I had a Coleman.  Great camper.  Wish I hadn't sold it before I moved back to CA.  I'd like to find a small camper myself now that I have a truck to pull it.

Ok, things I've learned buying /selling them... Coleman trailers are like a Diehatsu or saturn... Company is gone... Parts are scarce... ROT is ROT... Big $$$$ to fix.... Canvas! $1200-1300 will usually get all new canvas. The apache hard side trailers are Bitchen as there is NO CANVAS TO ROT and are mostly fiberglass... (rare as hens teeth though) Parts are available though.  http://modesto.craigslist.org/rvs/4405961143.html

I will have a nice coleman for sale soon if I get an apache as planned next month... :smt006
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

Might be interested in selling mine. I bought it from Snapperhead last year. The wife wants me to buy something with a real heater and a fridge. I will try and find some pictures. Its older and basic, but in great shape. The Canvas is like new. I used it at Ablion, Crabfest and a few other kayak trips last year. Comes with Yakima Rack and two j cradles.

Thanks for all the offers and advice fellas.  Found one on Craigslist and got a sweet deal!  Less than I was expecting and in better shape too. Its an old starcraft and has a bunch of storage under the floor.  Its in decent shape, no mold or mildew, just a little rust on the trailer.  Got a fridge nd a furnace and everything works.  Just got it home and parked it, I'm pretty excited about the maiden voyage!  Luckily I don't have a garage for it to become a workbench!  I know, I move fast!  :smt044
