Midwest fishermen don'r need rods & reels....

Not sure if many west coast fishermen have seen videos like this:



Watching it you have to wonder if it is real.  But several rivers in Illinois and Indiana are infested with these "flying" carp that are native to Asia and apparently escaped from a fish farm in Arkansas a few years ago.

The scary thing here is that they are now in a Chicago-area river that enters Lake Michigan and only an electric weir is keeping them out of Lake Michigan.  None of the local, state, and federal agencies that can really stop this can come to any kind of meeting of the minds.

The fish jump when they are disturbed by the sound of outboard motors so paddlers needn't worry much.  But the carp crowd out more desirable species like bass.

plant some stripers,,,,then some pumps,,,,,then blame the stripers and the carp for the lack of native fish.....that's how it's done in californeeia.

The Midwest needs more fish eating Filipinos!!!! They'll have that population down in no time.
Haven't seen many in Texas yet but I know they have them one state over in Louisiana
