Drop shoting in the ocean is one of my favorite techniques. My main line is 40 pound braid, the leader is 30 pound fluorocarbon, and the dropper 20 pound fluorocarbon. The main line and leader are connected by a barrel swivel. At 15" intervals the is a 3 way swivel. From the second swivel there is another barrel swivel. The weight dropper is attached to the bottom swivel by using a snap. The idea is to have the dropper fail and loose only the weight. This will help reduce hooks with attractors and hopefully reduce catch that will bet suck to the bottom. Hooks are smelled to the three way swivel and any swimbait that an anchovy works great. 6 and 8 oz weights are pre-tied with the 20 pound and a snap to make a quick change.  Good fishing!

I'm a little confused trying to visualize your rig, but I believe what you're talking about is commonly called a three-way rig.  Drop shot rigs are pretty much the same as a dropper loop rig except they are direct tied to the hook with a palomar instead of on a dropper loop.

edit:  i meant dropper rig, not fishfinder rig, which is a dragger rig with a sliding sinker.

edit:  there is another fishfinder rig which is a sliding sinker based rig as well.

Sort of the fishfinder rig generally uses a slider instead of an egg sinker.  Truth is all of these rigs are very similar.  when you think about it, a reverse dropper loop rig is very similar to a three way rig and the fishfinder/carolina rig.  a drop shot is the same as a dropper loop rig really.

Back to English 1A for me. Yes, this is a three way rig, thank you. The three way swivels allows for a longer leader to hook attachment. I believe this helps in presentation. Weights are attached with a leader and snap to the bottom barrel swivel. The bottom barrel swivel is 15 " from the last three way swivel. The rig can be increased in pound test as needed. I use an improved clinch knot for my weight attachment, and an eye crossed knot for the rest of the rig. The clinch knot has failed everytime when the rig was stuck.

I tried a dropshot type setup once, thinking I could rig it weedless to drop in kelp.  Stupid fish kept hitting at the lead.  First and last time.
