I was planning on going the legal route. The setup I have has a very minimal chance of messing up the ecosystem but thanks for the advice.

Ever consider aquaculture with the pond?

Seems like a valid discussion to me...not sure why we would have to delete it? My family operates a catfish farm outside Lodi and it can be a lot of work maintaining the pond. But it would probably be more fun and a more-enjoyable experience if it was not an aquaculture operation...like, if it was just for fun and it was stocked with sunfish as Baron is considering. I have a pond in my backyard but it's only about 600 gallons and I'll never disclose what lives in it LOL (kidding, of course).

I have plans for a large Koi pond in my back yard one of these days.  We had one as part of the house before the remodel some 25 years ago.  I'd love a HUGE one again.

Not sure why you want to delete this post. Maybe if people gave more helpful suggestions other than piranha or mermaids it could be a very educational post, at least for me. But thanks to the serious suggestions and info that was posted

You can usually get mosquito fish from the County btw. You should definitely look into that option.

I turned my pool into a koi pond, i love it!  I also put any extra fishing minnows i have in it so i dont have to kill them.

Carnivorous fish make much more waste than scavengers and vegetarians, jut keep this in mind.  Even so, i am slowly learning how to control the summer algae blooms (4 years running)

A couple of my koi :)

Yes, in all seriousness ... this CAN be an informative post.  I, myself, would love to learn more about large scale home-grown ponds.  As you learn more, please share.

Sorry you didn't have a sense of humor with mermaids & piranha.  Gotta have a little humor to become one with this group!

Love it!  When my parents built our house, it was shaped like a large 'U' with the ENTIRE inside fo the U being a deck & koi pond.  Had some joi that were easily 18" long & had been in the family for many, many years.  I had a small 250 gallon pond in Florida & the algae was a CONSTANT problem.  The part of the property I am looking at building mine is shaded by the house & nearby trees so it will have indirect light most of the time but the algae is still in the back of my mind as a problem.

Haha it was funny but I was confused why he requested to delete it after making a joke. Sorry its hard to communicate over a forum. No hard feelings!

On a side note there should be a universal font for sarcasm and similar subtleties that don't translate over easily via text.
