My personal Verizon IPhone 4S died today and I can't replace it without paying an arm and a leg because the contract is not up for a while.

I use my business smartphone most of the time so I can wait a bit to get a new personal replacement.

I wanted to know if anyone had a working used Verizon IPhone that they don't use anymore because they recently upgraded. Or any other operating Verizon cell phone with a charger.

Thanks
Antonio

I have this old (terrible) verizon droid that I loan out to any friends who needs a spare phone.  But the thing is so slow compared to modern smartphones that they usually end up giving it back quickly :)

How long did you have the iphone 4s antonio?  Is it no longer in warranty period? even for your credit card's extended warranty?

Still have a year on the contract. The phone went for a swim  :smt009
No insurance. I only paid the taxes on the phone 40 bucks new.....but to replace new before contract expires is 400 + dollars.

Did the whole ziplock bag full of rice for 24 hrs too with no luck.

Did it swim in freshwater?  If so, keep it going with the rice, it might be able to come back.  Also, phone repair is usually cheaper than you think.  If it swam in saltwater...well. :(  Unfortunately credit card coverage usually won't cover water damaged phones.

Next time squaretrade with accidental damage handling, I had them fix my current phone twice!  First time after a dunking where it was submerged for over 5 hours until we could retrieve at low tide, second time cracked screen.

But yeah, if you're interested in my crappy little droid you're free to borrow it as long as you want!

As for repair, these guys have great reviews on yelp, and supposedly provide free diagnostics. I'd say give em a call and see if it can be fixed:

Our local shop is $100. For water damage. 40$ non refundable and 60$ due if it's a successful repair.

I could have upgraded my 4s 6 months ago but am waiting to see what the new Apple toy is. That is, if my 4s doesn't crap out on me before then, like my HTC Android did last time (charging port broke for the second time).

If he uses the flip phone, he will lose any (corporate) plan discounts he got when he upgraded to a smartphone.

Only if the phone dies before September. Seriously considering not buying insurance with the next phone too.
