So since joining this site i have lurked on a bunch of threads and i came across one particular thread where a gentleman made a slick looking kayak storage cart that is essentially exactly like the one that i had made. they say imitation is the biggest compliment. I am not sure who's  kayak cart it was but I knew that thing was seriously bad ass... So i had spoke to my father-in-law and he made one up no problem. he just asked me what dimensions to make everything. I took another page out of the original thread that i had come across and made it exactly the height of the tailgate of my truck so that i wouldn't have to lift it any more than I had to.

I have this posted in the classified because he said that they are incredibly easy to make and he made mine out of all 2x4's and 2x6's and with full rotation casters/rollers this thing moves in any direction. The PVC piping on top allows the kayak to very easily slide on and off.

This is the end result. The only difference between mine and the original post is that i opted to have a solid bottom made of particle board instead of having it open, just so i could store more on the bottom. this thing is incredibly solid and will probably last the rest of my life.

He was interested to know if anyone here on NCKA would like one built custom to whatever dimensions one might need for $150-200 depending on the overall size and the different sizes wanted. he said when it was all said and done after he had gotten all the supplies it only took him a couple of hours to fabricate it. Just putting it out there if anyone is interested. I can deliver them if you are relatively close to the Sacramento area.

thats well made...I can see where you will be adding little things here and there...I did something close for my motorcycle work bench...I like how your cart/becnh is up high...no bent back when doing work on stuff

Thanks guys, I really like it as well. I'm just happy that someone else posted theirs so I could get a good idea of a basic design. It freed up a lot of room on the floor of my garage and I don't have to have my fishing gear all over the floor. The wife lies it as well lol. Feel free to copy, it helps out a lot all around. Remember you can have me make one for you all... Just send the specs... have a good night guys.

That looks great I live too far south. But I think I can get one made. My garage floor is a mess. In fact I can't see my new FF. I know it is there but where. I like the PVC Idea could serve a dual purpose. I can store some rods there. And maybe add a couple in the top 2X6.

Very nice, the full bottom board adds shear strength as well. BTW...where did you get the NCKA sticker that's on your yak ?

I had a fellow ncka member make it for me, all money goes towards a fund for Mooch I believe. Go check out the sticker section. Not 100% sure if they are offering that sticker for sale though.

Possible to make it a little taller with another "shelf" for a second yak? Or perhaps a little wider and add a cheap set of J racks for side by side storage??

Anything is possible. Space, cost and the ability to get it down from the higher storage would be things you have to consider.

I make these as trash bins for work. It just happened to be the right size for my kayak and height for my truck bed.

I wasn't feeling crafty so I purchased a stand

I know that's the lazy way out.
