My cousin Stephanie and several of her good friends visited from New Orleans last week because one of the ladies (Poppi) was graduating from the Naval Post Graduate School.

They had one afternoon free in the area so I volunteered to give them a guided kayak tour and beach day.  :smt003

Went out in AM with sharkbait and blasted enough fish for all (I got 2 cabs a 28 inch blue Ling and 8 assorted frying size rockfish, and Nathan got 2 lings up to 31 inches a cab and a few chunky rockies including a pretty Copper), and then met them all at the beach at 1pm.

Weather had been horrible the day before and even that morning it was still windy and rainy, but by 1pm the sun was shining and the day was beautiful!

Hotplate and my non-ncka buddy Freddy came down with extra kayaks to make sure we we had enough, and Dave Grigsby from Kayak Connection hooked us up with a tandem and made sure we had pfds and paddles for all!

Moved all the fish fry and chilling stuff down to the beach, reparked cars, got everyone decked out in wetsuits, pfds and ready to go!

Waves were just big enough to provide a little excitement for everyone getting out and up and over the waves, but everyone made it out just fine.  :smt004

Paddled out and we showed them seals and some cute otters and then over to a nice side beach to land and have a beer and chill for a bit.

Then back to main beach where I whipped out some sheephead filets and sliced them up for sashimi, fried a cab up whole, and then let one of the fellas who is a Louisiana fish fry expert go to work on the rocky and blue ling filets. They all loved the fish and also enjoyed the variety of lagunitas and Sierra nevada beers and bargetto wines I had for them!!  :smt004

Anyway, it was a great day on the beach and I was very happy the weather and ocean cooperated so I could show visiting family and friends what kind of fun can be had on kayaks out here.

Few pics!

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim

ps...thanks again to Nathan, Freddy, Darrel and Dave Grigsby for helping make the day so special and fun for everyone!

my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!
