So just received my elite 4 hdi from cabelas, hooked it up and turned it on, freezes on elite lowrance screen, so I thought it just took awhile to start up, left it on for 1 hour and still stuck there. Hooked it up to my car battery via cigarette outlet and still same thing so I ruled out power source. Did the hard reset and heard the beep but stuck on same screen. Called lowrance this morning and they told me to try a soft reset, and ill try when I get home from work. Getting really frustrated with lowrance because I just returned my elite dsi that was having issues also. Am I missing something? There were alot more wires that came with this unit but just connected the + and - wires. Any suggestions anybody?

Only once have I ever had one freeze up on me.  The intro screen takes a short bit but nowhere near an hour.  Maybe 30 seconds but that is only after a software update that it did that.

Where are you located?  Roseville ...  just saw that.  I'm a bit too far away to be of personal help (3+ hours)

Put a couple calls in for you to "the man" at Lowrance.  Best bet is to have it exchanged.  I've installed close to 30 of these in the past week & no problems to report as of yet.  If I were closer, I would have been more than happy to take care of it in person for you.

I have reported the issue to the Lowrance Tech/Design team for further review but exchanging the unit should be your fastest line of defense.  If you are doing this in-store, maybe hook it (the new one) up to their power cord & test it before you leave.  Should take less than a minute for it to initialize for the first time (with no sat. signal in the building).  It should pop-up with the Lowrance logo for maybe 30 seconds & then ask if you want to enter simulator mode.

thanks bill yeah so ordered mine from cabelas, just gonna be a hassle to send it back and wait for a new one, still havent received my refund back yet for my dsi and its been a couple weeks so that shows how slow they are on returns. I guess thats my next step if this soft reset doesnt work. Pissed, because I was looking forward to using it this weekend

This is why I try & buy electronics type items locally.  Might pay a little extra BUT I can walk in & exchange if/wen something goes wrong.  The local West Marine stores should have stock now of them since these were the ~30 units I installed this past week.

Hope it all works out good for you.  Sorry to hear this happen with it.  I'll keep my ear to the ground with the stores I service & see if they run into any problems.  There's bound to be one out there ... the nature of electronics I guess.

I picked mine up in Manteca @ Basspro.  Haven't had it in the water yet, but runs through the demo screen just fine.  If your in the Benicia area, you can borrow mine for your weekend trip. No worries.

If you decide to buy local, I can hook you up with the Manager at the West Marine in Sacramento or Rocklin.  I've known the manager at Sac. for a number of years & just met the Rocklin manager a couple weeks ago in Monterey.  I don't service either of those stores but I can put you in touch with the right people at them.

thanks for the offer bill, I stopped by west marine in rocklin and talked to the old man with the glasses, I think he was the manager. They didnt have the hdi on display or in stock at the store so I decided to purchase from cabelas since I also had $40 in cabelas bucks I wanted to use. Just called cabelas today and told them my heartbreaking story and the manager is overnighting me another one with a $50 gift card..so im not as frustrated anymore. If this unit breaks on me I think I wasnt meant to own a lowrance.

Press & hold the 'Pages' button.  While holding 'Pages' button, press power button.  Release the 'Pages' button when you hear the beep during startup.

A new version of software is available.  I'd highly suggest you update the software version.  Can be downloaded for free off the Lowrance site.  Think of it as a computer, they do need software updates when available.

I just had warranty service on my Elite 5. First they sent me a transducer just in case that was the problem. Then they had me send in the unit bare with no accessories attached. You should be fine.
