I've got an old file that I keep trying to build into an arkansas toothpick blade, but it is just too much of a time suck. Maybe I'll have it done in 10 years.

You guys should check the "Viking sword"  documentary by I think Nat'l Geographic. Dude builds a beautiful sword at his shop, from raw iron ore to finished sword.
Netflix had it instant a month or so back.

On a machete thread on NWKA, someone was saying that old chainsaw bars make a good stock for machetes.  Don't you have some old chainsaw bars?  And when will we see some Piscean crafted machetes?  I can only imagine the "warrior" handles you'd come up with.  Would make a nice addition to the gaff and spear lines!

It's so cool to see the home foundry setup.  Anvils are expensive, though!  I bet a chunk of railroad track would work.
